Various supply chain coordination issues influencing coordination and performance of supply chain have been discussed in this article. Hypotheses have been proposed to understand the impact of coordination issues on supply chain performance. Proposed hypotheses are tested by data collected through a questionnaire survey from Indian manufacturing companies. Research findings determine the relationship among important issues of supply chain coordination. It has been observed from current research that knowledge sharing, collective learning, sharing of plans and schedules require high level of information sharing. Information technology also assists in sharing quick and huge information among the trading partners. Therefore, a strategy should be formulated to boost information sharing among the supply chain partners. Further findings show that top management commitment, flexibility, incentive mechanisms, building partnership and trust, conducting meetings and providing technical assistance to chain members are supportive to advance coordination and improve performance of supply chain.
