The ORIS identifies the type of data required by different analytical techniques (linear programming, simulation modeling, statistical analysis, etc.) to address manufacturing concerns within specific areas. The ORIS methodology forces the collection of more and better quality data. With the existence of an ORIS, the application of analytic decision techniques can become the norm not the exception as it is now. The taxonomy is easily understood and used and, therefore, provides ready access for all levels of management. Included is a summary of a case study performed at the Ryobi Motor Products Company in Anderson, South Carolina.
