In this paper the authors offer an evaluation of the Community Operational Research Unit’s involvement with the Thurnscoe Tenants Housing Co-operative. This follows an earlier paper which gave a descriptive account of that involvement. Following a brief summary of the working philosophy of the Unit, the evaluation is conducted by considering the benefits that have accrued to the Co-operative, the lessons that have been learnt for the future development of the community operational research, and the lessons that have been learnt for the wider practice of operational research. Preliminary conclusions are offered which suggest that there is a healthy potential for the further use of operational research with community clients. [See also IAOR 51186.]
