During the recent days, the concept of lean remanufacturing is gaining importance due to the legal aspects related to environmental concerns, corporate moral and ethical responsibility and focus on profitability of the firm. This article presents an approach for assessing lean remanufacturing characteristics. A case analysis of an Indian automotive engine valve manufacturing organisation is presented. Using the approach, it has been found that the organisation scores 53.75% in the context of its lean remanufacturing ability. The weaker areas have been identified and lean remanufacturing proposals have been derived for performance.
