A study of the control theory under the expansion/contraction Markov-model in manpower planning problems

This paper is concerned with the control by recruitment of the grade structure in a manpower system by the expansion/contraction Markov model where the relative sizes of the grades are used. The purpose is to arrange systematically many studies for the control theory, which consist of both the main papers and the author’s proposals presented before. The feature of this paper is especially found in the numerical example, where the results obtained by the methods, including Davies method, mathematical programming techniques and discrete maximum principle, are compared with each other.
