Abstract:

A simple procedure for selecting the optimal economic design of a control chart for a single assignable cause system is presented. The procedure consists only of solving an explicit equation for h (sampling interval) in terms of n (sample size) and L (control limit factor). It is concluded that the present model is not only more accurate, more applicable, and more flexible, but also simpler to solve than Lorenzen and Vance’s Model.
