Major forces are now shaping the future of revenue management. These are demographic and climate change, globalisation and political unrest. These will generally increase demand for revenue management techniques, and lead to new applications, variables and algorithms. Declining scientific and quantitative reasoning in western society might, however, inhibit the growth of revenue management.
