A successful experience using genetic algorithms to bridge the digital divide

In this paper we descibe a successful experience in the application of genetic algorithms. The Andalusian Regional Government was interested in defining strategies and taking measures promoting the development of the Information Society in the less favoured areas of the region. We collaborated developing a tool capable of evaluating the investment ratios that would be required to set up an optic fibre telecommunucation network. Our proposal was a Decision Support System based on a genetic algorithm solutions' generator.
