We present direct and inverse solutions of the Lanchester square law attrition equations with general reinforcement schedules. Although the direct solution for the force strengths as a function of the initial conditions is well known, an inverse solution for the values of the attrition coefficients appears to be less well known. The method is illustrated by numerical examples.
