One of the major benefits of expert systems is short development time. This was demonstrated prior to a recent early retirement programme at the Property Services Agency where an expert system was developed and installed at 17 UK sites in under six weeks. The system was then used to support the early retirement decisions of nearly 2,900 employees by allowing them to calculate their own potential benefits from the schemes available.
