Abstract:

This paper presents two brief case studies from work with multicultural groups, and explores some of the issues of Operational Research OR practice in this context. The paper particularly focuses on issues to do with the process of OR, rather than on the detailed content of the case studies. The discussion that follows: examines one theme seen as central to O(u)R practice, namely working with ‘difference’; presents some guidelines found useful in practice; and examines the question of the accessibility of community Operational Research OR to community groups.
