The results of the ‘Survey on telecommunication use in households and individuals’ conducted by NTT Corporate Strategy Headquaters in 1989 were analyzed using the first and second methods of quantification. This revealed that the first method of quantification has poor accuracy for estimating telephone revenue, while the second method has rather high discrimination for many cases. The characteristics of high telephone use in households are shown. Also shown are the characteristics of households using each telecommunication devices or services and the relationships among them.
