An increasing number of groups are prepared to expand their repertoires beyond traditional Operational Research OR techniques. Clearly, U.K. Operational Research OR Society conferences are in tune with this concern for diversification in their choice of streams. What provides a direction for this diversification is a desire to exploit the generic skills of practitioners and the application of a shared, general method of approaching managerial problems.
