Decision Support System-An application in strategic manpower planning of airline pilots

The phenomenon of Decision Support Systems has only just emerged. The theory has hardly been founded and even practical guidelines are not yet available. In this paper a framework to structure the design of a Decision Support System is presented. The framework describes the functions that a DSS should offer to a planner, and explains why these functions are required. How the framework can be implemented is illustrated by the description of a Decision Support System built for a strategic manpower planning problem of airline pilots.
