The location of injection and production wells and the choice of their operating conditions is a topical problem in connection with flooding of petroleum and petroleum/gas deposits. The problem is formulated as a problem of optimal control of multiphase seepage flow in a horizontal plane region. Approximate solution of this problem by an finite-difference method and by a successive linearization method is discussed. Some numerical results are analysed.
