Auto ancillary units (ACUs) in India are one of the growing industries and have witnessed huge capacity expansion and modernisation due to entry of foreign automobile manufacturers. It is, thus, necessary for ACUs to meet desired quality level and hence becomes essential for them to implement quality improvement techniques like TQM. In this research work, 11 TQM critical success factors have been identified through discussion with experts and literature review. The study finds that there exists two groups of factors, one having high driving power and low dependency requiring more attention and are seen to be strategically important factors and others having high dependency and low driving power and are resultant effects. The study provides strategic framework prioritising critical success factors of TQM implementation for execution. The study implicates that management should formulate the strategy for implementing these critical success factors, to implement TQM, obtained through ISM and MICMAC analysis.
