Abstract:

This study evaluates Team Syntegrity® (TS) as a tool to improve the efficiency of teamwork in solving complex problems by means of stimulating collaboration and developing cross‐fertilization and creativity. Some evidence suggests that TS has good results for individuals who participate in the process; however, no empirical research has occurred on the consequences for teamwork. Therefore, we apply this methodology to a group of students who then participate in a business simulation course. We then compare their teamwork capabilities to a control group of students. The outcome shows the positive effect of TS on teamwork. In particular, teams formed with students with experience in the TS had better results than non‐TS teams: TS team decisions were more stable throughout the whole period, and team members were more involved in the business simulation process.
