Optimal positioning of service units along a coordinate line

In this article, the authors consider the optimal positioning of multiple servicing units along a coordinate line, under the assumption that demand for service occurs probabilistically at any point along the coordinate line. They show that, under very general circumstances, it is best for the servicing units to be stationary, and the authors provide an algorithm for finding these stationary positions.
