MNCs are centralizing and standardizing IT governance and decision‐making. Defining global standards for enterprise systems may reduce total IT costs. Global standards may also limit local responsiveness and innovation. MDP models can help MNCs find the optimal portfolio of enterprise systems. Subsidiaries in dynamic markets should select and control their own enterprise systems.
