This paper describes the business environment in which the military Aircraft Division of British Aerospace will have to operate in the 1990s. One of the strategies for sustaining its position as a world supplier of military aircraft is to satisfy customers by applying a structured approach to their maintenance and support needs. The paper reviews the maintenance and support analysis processes used by the company, and one of the mathematical models used is described: level-of-repair analysis.
