To select an optimal linear production system means to select the best subset of products from the set of possible products for production and to prepare the necessary contingency plans that can be flexibly used to cope with changes of decision parameters, such as criterion coefficients and resource availability levels, in a given planning horizon. This paper describes mathematical models for selecting optimal production systems under multiple criteria environments by using the multiple criteria and multiple-constraints-level (MC2) simplex method. An effective procedure is proposed for systematically identifying optimal linear production systems and constructing related contingency plans. A computer-aided support system to implement the procedure is also sketched.
