Whereas the Duckworth‐Lewis method (originally designed for one‐day cricket) has been adopted in both international T20 matches and in the Indian Premier League, there has been growing objections to its specific use in T20. The Duckworth‐Lewis method relies on the Duckworth‐Lewis resource table which specifies the resources remaining at various stages of a match. In this paper, we consider the estimation of an alternative resource table specifically for T20 cricket. The alternative resource table suggests that there exist meaningful differences in the scoring patterns between one‐day cricket and T20, and hence it calls into question the suitability of the Duckworth‐Lewis table for use in T20.
