In this paper an outline of the situation of Operational Research OR in developing countries together with a brief description of the state of Operational Research OR in Greece are given, and a comparison between them is attempted. Some suggestion about the future of Operational Research OR in Greece with a view to widening its scope through new areas of research and applications, and the widening of content using soft systems methodologies are presented. The conclusion is that Operational Research OR applicability in Greece or in developing countries cannot be distinguished from the case of Operational Research OR applicability in general.
