Abstract:

Alexander’s assertion, ‘from tree to semi-lattice’, is reexamined in the context of the conceptual changes in housing planning. It can be regarded that his statement correctly stands for the movement from the neighborhood unit planning to the open community planning. With a newly developed method, the spatial hierarchical structures of Tama region and Sagenjaya region are compared. The result is affirmative for Alexander’s asertion. [In Japanese.]
