This study outlines one approach to the design of a public financial management curriculum. It also describes the critical mass content of courses in the curriculum. The sequence of eight courses in the curriculum is as follows: Introduction to Management Control, Non-Profit Accounting, Cost Accounting, Public Financial Management, Public Budgeting, Financial Information Systems, Cash and Investment/Debt Management, and Performance Auditing. The curriculum follows the phases of the management control cycle for public organizations.
