The acquisition and sharing of knowledge through storytelling in a project work context represents a challenge that the most project‐based companies are only now beginning to acknowledge. Therefore this conceptual article deals with a question of what kinds of stories are used in these types of companies. The article suggests that there are different types of stories (i.e. project company stories and project implementation stories) which may act as an important means in knowledge acquisition and sharing. It is also suggested that the managers of the project‐based companies are in a key position in advancing knowledge sharing through storytelling.
