Abstract:

In this paper the authors present an urban transport model implementation based on the supply-demand equilibrium concept. The distinguishing technical characteristics of the model, solution algorithms and computer implementation are presented and analyzed. The model has been already used by the Urban Transport Commission of the Chilean government to evaluate investment decisions related to the development of the Santiago de Chile urban transport system. The results of one such application are presented and used to analyze strengths and limitations of the modelling approach.
