Modelling and simulation of drafting

Drafting is an important process taking place at several stages of yarn manufacturing. The authors propose here a simulation model describing the interactions of individual fibres. An interesting theoretical feature of this work is that it reconciles two seemingly very different approaches: a stochastic description of the interactions between fibres and an analysis of friction forces formulated as a minimal cut problem in a graph.
