Abstract:

The limitations and proper role of statistical quality control in a high-quality manufacturing environment are discussed. The assurance of quality requires additional techniques such as poka-yoke, self-checking, source inspection, and autonomation. By their nature, these zero-defect tools also aid in the process of continuous improvement and worker involvement.
