Abstract:

Modeling the operations of financial service systems is complicated by organizational complexity, a large volume of transactions, and disparities in activity delays that range from a few minutes to several weeks. This paper describes simulation modeling techniques that have been applied in modeling a financial service company. The simulation maintains modularly defined model components and multiple levels of model aggregation in an integrated database. Different views of the system may be extracted from the database according to a user’s decision-making requirements and desired view of the system. Experiments with different levels of aggregation show the characteristics of system operations in data-driven service systems and suggest system management strategies.
