This paper has three main objectives: to examine supply chain management (SCM) in the logistics industry in Hong Kong; to identify the potential problems to the industry of practising SCM; and to provide recommendations on the implementation of SCM for the industry. These objectives have been achieved in this paper by a review of the related literature, a survey administered to over 1,100 companies in the industry, and a panel discussion with a group of logistics academics and industry practitioners. The implications of the findings are discussed and recommendations for the development of SCM in the industry are provided.
