There is a strong parallel between the methodologies of operational research and learning cycle of education theory. The latter cycles through concrete experience, reflective observation, abstract conceptualisation, and active experimentation. In this paper parallels are drawn with the process of an Operational Research OR methodology, and lessons from education theory are shown to be important for the training of Operational Research OR scientists.
