The authors analyze the performance of the statistical multiplexer in which input consists of the superposition of the packetized video and data and input rate or service rate can be controlled. They propose a phase-type Markov renewal process which represents the packetized voice and data arrival processes. This process includes the versatile Markovian point process and is more convenient to use. The controlled statistical multiplexer is modelled by a controlled G/Er/1/K queue with phase-type Markov renewal input. When the number of customers in the system exceeds a certain value, input rate or service rate is controlled. Furthermore, the authors present a new efficient numerical algorithm of a stationary state probability distribution. [In Japanese.]
