Data envelopment analysis (DEA) is a new Operational Research OR method applied to many studies regarding productivity measurement and efficiency analysis. The paper presents a theoretical basis by which a DEA data set may be classified into several subsets. Based upon the classification, it describes many unique features and difficulties related to DEA applications. In order to overcome such difficulties, this sudy presents two distinct DEA approaches that incorporate additionally a new perspective of multiple criteria such as productivity and cost measures into these formulations. This extension provides DEA with more practicability. [In Japanese.]
