Abstract:

This is an extended abstract of a paper that was a finalist in the Manufacturing and Service Operations Management Society's 2004 Student Paper Competition. A new multiperiod contract form is proposed, the promised leadtime contract, which reduces supplier risk from future demand uncertainty, and eliminates buyer risk from uncertain inventory availability.
