The paper shows that a finite source queuing system is a complement to a multiple-server Erlang loss system insofar as the system size is concerned. It demonstrates that some key results on these two models derived in the literature using direct methods are a trivial consequence of this relationship. The paper also derives some new results. It relates the mean system size, mean system wait, server utilization and mean busy periods for these two systems.
