A thousand U.S. firms were surveyed on implementation of quality control techniques. Based on the questionnaires, the authors developed a framework for examining the type of quality control techniques currently being implemented, the percentage of firms using each technique in specific manufacturing activities, and the reasons for slow implementation of QC in some activities.
