The relative operational performance of Hong Kong’s manufacturing industries is measured and analyzed for the period from 1987 to 1993. The measurement technique used is the recently developed operational competitiveness rating (OCRA) procedure. The comparison of the overall operational performance of Hong Kong’s nine manufacturing industry groups is based on the OCRA computations of relative resource consumption and revenue generation performance. The implications of OCRA results in terms of industry performance trends are discussed and strategic issues are reviewed.
