Abstract:

As pressures from government, insurance companies, communities, and individual consumers to lower the cost and improve health care quality increase, various health care performance measures have emerged as critical elements for cost containment. Previous research has not addressed the issue of standard performance measures for the health care industry. This paper has attempted to review the current literature and suggest future directions for both practitioners and researchers.
