This paper is concerned with the type of random walks in two dimensions considered by Malyshev, which describe a wide class of two-queue systems. Sufficient conditions are established for the random walks to have various rate of convergence results including ergodicity, geometric ergodicity and sub-geometric rates for a variety of rate functions.
