Seasonal fluctuations in demand can cause difficulties in scheduling production for a firm. This is especially true when this demand pattern occurs in a growth market. One particular problem which arises is the coordination between production personnel and sales personnel. This article presents a model for determining the maximum annual demand which can be met given the seasonality of the demand pattern and the dynamic nature of the production environment. The model was developed for a plastics firm which manufactures closures for liquid containers.
