Abstract:

An algorithm is presented which calculates the range of validity of the similarity measure of a sample path of a discrete event dynamic system, when a single perturbation is introduced at the time of operation. Based on this calculated range, one can perform sensitivity analysis of the gradient of the throughput measure, and the feasibility of an operating schedule. The algorithm is recommended for a manufacturing environment, when technologically intensive products are made in small lots. The implementation of the algorithm in an automated steel manufacturing process is also presented.
