Milliken, the U.S. textile maker, has its European headquarters in Wigan. In 1993, the company was awarded the European Quality Award, and its performance in the past decade means that it is seen as one of the standard-bearers for the worldwide quality movement. The author describes the company’s quality policy, how it has developed, and how it is put into practice. Quality in the sense that Milliken embodies it is a means of systematically obtaining unlimited results from the resources at hand.
