The Higher Olefins and Detergents (HODET) Business Centre at Shell Chemicals manages the production and marketing of olefins and derivative products. The complexity of the various interacting processes and the wide portfolio of independent markets make the optimisation of the whole business extremely complex. The HODET Interactive Business Model models the interactions, constraints and operational choices of the production units and business processes using a GENETIK planning board and XPRESS linear program package and produces a plant schedule. The user may interact with the plan and assess the overall impact on the financial performance and daily stock position.
