Transferable pedestrian flow models are a useful tool for the planning of shopping malls. Their results can be used to identify dead areas in existing shopping centres and to plan new malls. This article reports the results of a survey conducted at the Fredericton Mall in New Brunswick, Canada. It is shown how the type of data collected can be used to reconstruct pedestrian flows. Moreover, valuable information on shoppers’ behaviour can be extracted from the results.
