A fuzzy multiple objective decision making approach is proposed based on the desirable features of compromise programming and fuzzy set theory. The proposed two-phase approach guarantees both nondominated and balanced solutions for solving both the crisp and the fuzzy multiple objective decision making problems. Furthermore, it is shown that the original compromise programming does not guarantee nondominated solutions if the distance parameter is assumed to be infinite and the resulting programming problem’s solution is not unique.
