Abstract:

The paper considers a model of group decision making based upon a session of experts, during which experts elicitate their preferences over a set of options. It is intended that the results of such a session will be a common (aggregate) opinion of experts over which consensus was achieved. For both pragmatic and substantial reasons notions based upon fuzzy set theory are introduced (f. preference relations, f. definition of the consensus degree etc.). Various approaches to consensus reaching process are outlined and analysed. The paper is a good reading for someone entering the domain and wishing to undertake the construction of a corresponding support system.
