In water distribution networks, the demand rate becomes extremely high locally and causally. Typical examples are the demand for fire fighting and that for preparation of rice transplantation. Then, in the design of water distribution networks, optimization has to be considered for multiple loadings. This paper develops a new method of optimizing the design of water distribution networks with multiple loadings. The problem is formulated into a combinatorial optimization one, and efficient algorithms to solve it are proposed.
