Natural resource management has become an important research field in Australia. Public disputes have arisen with respect to forestry, mining, hydropower, fisheries and coastal development. A number of operations research techniques have been applied to provide information to decision makers in resolving these disputes. This paper examines current applications of these techniques in Australian natural resource planning and monitoring.
