The validity of mechanical networks

The idea of a unified theory governing the manufacturing systems is presented. The idea is based upon the network theory. The paper discusses the algebraic characteristics of networks and their physical interpretation in a mechanical system. This, indeed, is the most important part of the paper, for it analyses the network-based representation of such physical phenomena as e.g. forced distortion or motion of a rigid body. The fundamental reference to this paper, besides previous work of the second author, is J.P. Roth.
